We had our final race of the season at the Motor Racing Legends Silverstone meeting at the end of October. We had a beautiful 1964 Porsche 901 competing in the Pall Mall Cup that is a 3hr endurance race for pre66 GT and Sports Cars. It's always a fantastic event and the Pall Mall Cup is a great addition to an already busy calendar.

Pre 66 911's really are a perfect car for endurance racing and really start to come into their own after the half way mark when other cars begin the show reliability issues or begin the overheat whether it be brakes or engine! In an early 911 you really can keep up a very consistent pace throughout the entire race.

Qualifying was early on the Sunday morning and started in pretty damp conditions. The rain had stopped and the track was drying but unfortunately we had an issue with a throttle rod. This meant we didn't get to set a fully competitive lap time and started the race 36th.

Come the race the track was nearly fully dry. We started well and were gaining places from get go. This momentum carried on and we kept gaining places throughout the race. As well as this we managed to stick to our strategy and keep each pit stop to the mandatory 5 minutes allocated. At the chequered flag we had climbed up to 22nd and 4th in class.

A fantastic end to a great season and we cannot wait until the flag drops on 2022!

If you would like to get into historic racing then please do not hesitate to get in touch. 2.0L 911's are a great car to learn in and we have cars available to purchase and also for hire.
